In Culver City California, in a historic downtown hotel known by different names in different stages of the city's history, I worked in my small editing room on the second floor. For almost a decade, I felt at home in the old brick building then owned by entrepreneurs from China. With less than fifteen-hundred dollars I shot enough footage in the hotel for the foundations of two documentary films: Good Cat In Screenland (2012), and Good Cat in Screenland Part 2 -- Keeps Me From Falling (currently in post production). Keeps Me… takes place in the same period of time as Good Cat … only the story enters the hotel through an autobiographical passageway.
